Be Part of the Change

Our charity thrives on the collective efforts of many—the cogs in our machine—all working together to serve our community and fight food poverty. From our generous financial donors and local food providers to our incredible team of volunteers, and the maintenance of our warehouse and fleet of delivery vehicles, every contribution is vital in our mission to ensure no one goes hungry in Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall.

At Devon and Cornwall Food Action (DCFA), we work tirelessly to fight food poverty and reduce food waste in our community, but we can’t do this alone.

Your financial support is vital to keep our operations running. From maintaining our vans and refrigeration systems to ensuring we can collect and distribute food safely, every donation goes a long way in making a real difference.

By giving today, you’re not just contributing to a cause—you’re helping to nourish lives, restore hope, and strengthen our community. Together, we can ensure no one in Devon and Cornwall goes hungry.

Volunteers out and about

Volunteers

Our volunteers are the backbone of DCFA. We couldn't exist without their goodwill and extraordinary efforts. We're always in need of more hands—whether it's for food packing, cleaning, deliveries, stock handling, admin, bookkeeping, or even making the coffee that keeps us going! If you can spare a day or even a few hours a week to support a worthy cause, reach out to us via email, phone, or our online contact form. Let us know your talents and how you can help, and we'll get back to you.

Why We Need Sponsors Like You

Devon and Cornwall Food Action (DCFA) is at the heart of a growing community effort to combat food poverty and reduce waste across our region. With your support, we’ve already made an incredible impact—but the fight is far from over. Every day, we rescue surplus food from going to waste, redistribute it to those in need, and ensure no one is left hungry. But to keep moving forward, we need your help.

Food

Food

Food is at the heart of what we do. If you're a grower, producer, manufacturer, shop, supermarket, or any organisation dealing with food, we want to hear from you.

We aim to rescue surplus goods that, while perfectly fit for consumption, may not meet commercial standards due to minor flaws. By donating your surplus food to us, you’re not just preventing waste—you’re actively participating in a community-wide effort to combat food poverty. Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

  • Save Money: Reduce disposal costs by redirecting surplus goods to a meaningful cause.
  • Support Communities: Provide essential food supplies to families and individuals struggling with food insecurity.
  • Promote Sustainability: Help us tackle environmental issues by cutting down on food waste and reducing landfill impact.

Refridgeration

Equipment and Vehicles

As the demand for our services increases, so does the need for essential resources. Our vans, refrigeration systems, and other equipment form the backbone of our operations, enabling us to collect, store, and distribute food safely and efficiently. These tools allow us to connect surplus food with the communities that need it most, bridging the gap between abundance and scarcity.

However, maintaining and expanding these critical resources is a constant challenge. From upgrading vehicles to ensuring proper refrigeration for perishable items, every piece of equipment plays a vital role in keeping our mission alive. Without them, the food we save would never reach the people who rely on us.

DCFA Hub

Premises

With the support of Plymouth City Council, we've relocated to a fantastic 7,000 sq. ft warehouse in north Plymouth. This space allows us to continue our mission of eradicating food poverty.

To fully realise the potential of our new home, we’re reaching out to like-minded partners to help us enhance our operational efficiency and sustainability. By joining forces, you can play a vital role in enabling us to channel more of our resources into feeding families and individuals across Devon and Cornwall.

Here’s how you can contribute:

  • Energy-Efficient Solutions: Support us in reducing utility costs by providing or subsidising energy-efficient LED lighting or other eco-friendly solutions.
  • Utility Assistance: Help us lower our day-to-day expenses, such as water, electricity, and heating, to maximise the funds available for our mission.
  • Warehouse Optimisation: From racking and shelving systems to specialised equipment, your contribution can significantly improve how we store and handle food, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Sustainable Practices: Work with us to implement green solutions that not only support the environment but also save costs—helping DCFA operate responsibly and effectively.

Together, we can make a difference.

Thank you for your support!
